Civilians
The few civilians remaining alive in Evans City are in a last desperate attempt to escape the plague after the military quarantine failed and power structures fell apart.
Many tried to leave in their cars but were blocked at gunpoint on the highways and streets by military personnel. During the final chaos, many abandoned their cars, trapped in traffic and panic, tried to escape the oncoming hordes of undead, running anywhere they could, but most often to their death.
Civilians run across the road in zig-zag motion and can be rescued by stopping your vehicle and honking your horn at them. (Ineffective in RotD 1) If they are in close enough distance, they will then run to you and get inside if you don't have any zombie on your hood. Your vehicle can hold up to 5 civilians at a time, with any other civilians completely ignoring your horn until room is made. While driving on the road, you can honk your horn to warn civilians to get out of the way in hopes not to hit them. This will cause them to temporarily move in the opposite direction before they resume their usual running pattern. Dropping them off at police stations and churches will give you 10 RP per Civilian. (Accidently) killing a civilian, whether by running them over or shooting them, will result in a penalty of 10 RP!
Trivia[]
- Like Common Undead, if they are hit centerwise, they will splatter into various organs and bones, noticeably without any trace of flesh or skin. These are counted as gib kills.
- The Survival Guide entry depicts two unused civilian models, both slightly adjusted versions of civilians that appear in-game. One is a Caucasian man who uses the assets of the first male African American civilian's suit and a slight recolor of the male Caucasian civilians, with dark brown hair and a mustache, while the other is an African American woman, who is essentially a palette swap of the second female civilian.
- The civilians, as well as the unseen drivers of the moving cars, are the only characters with uncredited voice actors.
